Yesterday I bought the domains puppybois.pet and puppyboi.online for less than 8€. I’m considering setting up a fedi instance on at least one of them

Any suggestions or ideas?

@amy_psycho_bitch For software? I'm pretty happy with Iceshrimp.NET nowadays :)

@fugi where/how do you host? I’m kinda tempted to self host

@amy_psycho_bitch I'm not sure how exactly @star hosts this instance, but I personally have a "Root-Server 1000 G11" (KVM vServer with dedicated cpu cores) from Netcup. It's pretty good value

@fugi @star @amy_psycho_bitch if you have a dedicated server this doesn't happen!

@fugi @star @amy_psycho_bitch still, the moment you're hosting more than like 3 or 4 things a €25 dedicated server is great value

@JadedBlueEyes @star @amy_psycho_bitch I'm hosting ~11 things (excluding static web stuff) on a 10€ vServer and have been fine for multiple years, that's arguably better value. Not saying others shouldn't get a dedi if they can afford it, but.. cowshrug

@fugi @star @amy_psycho_bitch oh true it depends what you're hosting, I guess a 500 user Forgejo instance and an overall like 1,000,000 requests per day isn't normal 🫪
