Yesterday I bought the domains puppybois.pet and puppyboi.online for less than 8€. I’m considering setting up a fedi instance on at least one of them

@amy_psycho_bitch I'm not sure how exactly @star hosts this instance, but I personally have a "Root-Server 1000 G11" (KVM vServer with dedicated cpu cores) from Netcup. It's pretty good value

@star @amy_psycho_bitch mine didn't force my server offline because of php and slopcode an info page about that instead of fixing it tho :p

(tbf netcup rebooted my server with ~3 minutes advance notice because of the KVM escape thing)

@star @amy_psycho_bitch @fugi since hetzner doesn't offer their cheap servers anymore, how's your experience with the equivalent alternatives from netcup etc.? I need to host a knowledge base for work (Outline) so wouldn't need a lot of power but do need some reliability, they also dont have a lot of budget for that...

@stellavie I decided on that Netcup offering because it was the cheapest from a reputable hoster without any real trade-offs I found, and that assessment held true so far, it's always been smooth sailing

@JadedBlueEyes @star @amy_psycho_bitch I'm hosting ~11 things (excluding static web stuff) on a 10€ vServer and have been fine for multiple years, that's arguably better value. Not saying others shouldn't get a dedi if they can afford it, but.. cowshrug

@amy_psycho_bitch @fugi Personally I can vouch for Layer7 which is what I host my GTS instance on and other stuff. I have 8gb ram, 2vcpus, 80gb nvme, and 50tb bandwith for around 5 eur a month right now and so far the experience has been pretty good
