I felt like that for a very long time. I still sometimes do.
What helped me was trying to instead define who I was in the past and who I want to be in the future.
Cause who you are will shift depending on many factors and the situation you are in. So trying to mold that into a set box was at least for me a fools errant.
Cause who you are isnt really something that can be clearly written out (imo), its something you kind of need to define yourself, by finding things that feel right, traits, interests, social environments you fit in, aspirations, but also frustrations and issues that plague you.
If you feel more comfortable with more static labels and descriptions you can try them out and discard them if you stop feeling them until you find something that sticks. You can also look what you like in others and see if you want to be more like that.
It can be a frustrating process, but it can also be very rewarding, when you find a new piece of yourself.
@Quz@star Thank you for your words. Your posts have inspired me to explore myself and you have been very kind to me. So thank you again. I am going to figure this out.
Happy to help. I know its scary to feel like there is nothing actually defining "you", but there is, it will just take time, patience with yourself and a willingness to explore and be wrong.
The meaning of this post is quite flexible; and I think that someone trying to find their true self is most definitely not lying about who they are; at least not any more than they have to. This statement is meant to be a reminder that you'll be happiest when you're fully yourself, not as something authoritative
I do not know you very well yet, but I still mean it when I say that; if there is anything that I could do to support you in finding yourself, I'd do it in a heartbeat.
@star Thank you. I think I can figure it out but it takes some time. It always does. Also thank you for your offer but I think what I really need is just some time to myself to think. Going out into nature helps
