I know that I am guilty of doing this exact same thing in the past, but I do think that the"eww France/French""jokes", coming from people who aren't French or living in France themselves/French-speaking parts of the world, are not funny. I know for a fact that there are some French individuals who usually don't mention their nationality and such, to avoid these types of comments.
Yes, it's "just a joke", but my uncle also makes "just jokes" about gay people and I don't like him for it either. Point is: they can still hurt.
Though, to be fully clear: I also don't think this is that deep either. It is a personal annoyance that I am voicing, but you are most definitely free and welcome to disagree loudly or quietly, and to have your own opinion. But maybe me saying it makes some people think about it and that'd also be pretty neat I think :) I just want us all to get along where possible and have a good time
