Guess what? If your phone runs mainline #Linux, you can just play #Minecraft Java Edition on it. This is a Oneplus 8T running #PostmarketOS and Minecraft runs at a stable 25 FPS with 16 chunks render distance.

Some folks in the sm8250-mainline matrix channel and I have been working on getting this phone mainlined and so far we have a lot working. These changes are not merged into PostmarketOS yet but that is something I intend to do soon.

This video was also shot on PostmarketOS so this is a end-to-end Linux video production.

@knievelcat uhhhh.... nice. That's my phone! It's about time I move androids and flash this thing. Does it actually support DisplayPort via USB-C or is this some other kind of display output like DisplayLink?

@kmohrf Yes it's just DisplayPort alt mode. It doesn't work with every dock currently since the USB Port does not provide power to attached devices yet but if you have a powered dock it should work

@knievelcat Hello, have you got performance optimization mods installed?

If not, adding them might help to get to 60fps stable. Also I think 16chunks is overkill most of the time, use that big if you want to find something.

2-4 is normal once you have settled in some area.

You can get really optimized by using Fabric loader and optimization mods which are usually all in the first pages of Modrinth.

Past: carrying CRT monitor + tower PC + accessories to LAN event.
Now: carry flat panel monitor + some dongles + accessories to LAN event and just play on phone. 😂
