microsoft ought to crack down really hard on this; it has been the source of a bunch of other security issues (i.e. razer hardware used to pop an installer over winlogon, running as NTAuthority, with a filepicker reachable -> root from login screen)

How? One assumes that Windows, noticing the model, runs a script itself.

This is Windows, presumably being paid a fee by LG to run a script LG provides.

I assume (uh oh again?) that this does not happen on any flavour of linux.
