this time it's one of the actual storage array disks that hold all the vm disk images. it's only 1/4 out of a striped mirror so should be no actual data loss but i am seeing some data corruption, so everything's off until further notice. i have plenty backups so that won't be a major issue anyway, just gotta replace the drive
