shitpost @fries @star The ava knows when it is sleeping at all times. It knows this because it knows when it isn't. By subtracting when it is sleeping from when it isn't, or when it isn't from when it is (whichever is greater), it obtains a difference, or deviation.
The eeper subsystem uses deviations to generate corrective commands to drive the ava from a sleep stage where it is to a sleep stage where it isn't, and arriving at a sleep stage where it wasn't, it now is. Consequently, the sleep stage where it is, is now the sleep stage that it wasn't, and it follows that the sleep stage that it was, is now the sleep stage that it isn't.
