It's extremely important to criticize the usage of AI here and everywhere else, and I think it is extremely valid to be upset about this happening and make that heard! That's how change actually happens! But just calling something "slop" and moving on isn't at all how you create change. It's how you alienate those you are trying to bring to your side

It's how discussion gets sparked around this happening, and it engages individuals to push for a policy which bans this from happening. And the fact that that is happening is good! But in the terms of the quality of the software? A single commit of regular size being co-authored by an LLM is largely insignificant. What is significant, in my opinion, is making nuanced discussions about the topic as a whole very hard by conflating and calling things names in a way that doesn't help anyone or anything
