injections, ph, -, blood Wowsers I just did the worst injection on myself in my almost 2 years of being on HRT, and I don't even know why; I followed all the steps I usually did. I feel like I hit a blood vessel or something, because there was a little bit of blood on the needle and a drop coming out the injection side, and while inserting the needle into the fatty tissue was painless, injecting the liquid was very not neocat_googly_shocked but I live, and I am fine

injections, ph, -, blood @star now it's possible that you injected a bit in a vein, but another possibility is that you hit one of those blood vessels in the papillary plexus right below the skin. They are small and it's kinda impossible to avoid hitting them. Hitting them is also totally harmless, your needle will go through them and you can't inject liquid in them, but it can cause bleeding.

I think it may be a bit more painful but I'm not sure. I think the reason why some injections are painful and some aren't is because pain receptors aren't spread evenly and at the scale of a needle that can be felt. You may only feel pain when injecting because the accumulation of the liquid in the fat starts affecting nerves nearby.

RE: injections, ph, -, blood @iro_miya @star even if you do hit a vein, the hole is so small it probably wouldn’t matter too much?

RE: injections, ph, -, blood @amy @star Indeed! A vein will recover from being punctured. In fact, normally, a vein can even recover being entirely cut (it'll naturally create new smaller vessels). But injecting hormones into a vein is probably harmful, although I'm not sure exactly what will happen if you do

Arteries are the ones which are super critical and will not recover from cutting afaik. They're very deep though, and much larger, so no way you'd puncture those accidentally if you do injections normally
