@mei Okay, I finally tried it today, and I think it's not really quite for me, which is why I'm not sure my feedback would be helpful in making this client what YOU want. But it did help me get on Fedi on my new NetBSD install on a machine that wouldn't load the normal web client for my instance, and I very much appreciate that!

Basically I kinda like being a power user, and the (intentional) points of friction with boosts/quotes are unpleasant for my use case. Short usernames can be a bit of a safety issue for me, because the instance a user is on is a signal I'm used to relying on. I do like turning the autoplay off and the hash-based URLs (thank god this is a pile-o-files in the end) and the hashtag stuffing. The various kinds of content consolidation (like the boosts carousel) make navigation basically incoherent at my screen resolution.

Long term I'm prolly gonna find a CLI client, I'm realizing that's the kind of thing I'm actually looking for. But thank you!

@MaddieM4 Ahh thank you for taking the time!

Nuffy is still much closer to Phanpy's taste than mines; I'm focusing on divide-and-conquering the most problematic parts with the least coding effort ATM, and that doesn't really shine through.

Is it the horizontal scrolling? I'd love to hear a bit more as I definitely feel Nuffy is too focused on mobile UX rn. Also, I will take the short usernames into account - that's a good one.

Good luck finding a CLI client, think you'll use the kitty image protocol for that? Or just plaintext?

@mei happy to be useful!

That's cool, I assumed as much because it's such early days.
Is it the horizontal scrolling?
The horizontal scrolling is part of it, but I'm also constrained on vertical real estate. I'm basically looking at the world through a straw. So let's say I'm in my feed and encounter a consolidated thread. It takes a sec to parse what's going on, and fucks with chronological navigation, despite taking up less pixels, because it's a high percentage of my view. The one consolidation I like is boosts+faves in notifications, but the profile pics are big. I also think the rounded padded post UI is contributing to the problem.

Oh just plaintext probably. Alts are culturally normalized and I can open images in my browser.
