nuffy / fedi client thoughts hmmph what if i added like a "Long mode" that meant you only see threads (or single posts ofc) with posts over a certain wordcount. and there's a ratio of normal_posts:pure_boosts that makes sure someone cant fill your timeline with like 10320 boosts if they dont write their own thoughts too...

this is basically an algorithm ((?))

nuffy / fedi client thoughts @mei there are clients with algorithmic timelines for fedi I think. Though I mostly hide boosts from those people and move on

nuffy / fedi client thoughts @piegames though, i'm not sure this is a great long-term goal as i'm trying to make nuffy basically a really good client to survive fedi culture in, while also steering it a bit if possible. and i feel like primarily-just-boosting people are engaging in a rather asocial behavior

nuffy / fedi client thoughts @mei I think the ability of disabling boosts helps regulate that more than it encourages. I also appreciate the distinction in vibe between "I follow you for the content curation" vs "I follow you to stay in touch about your life". That being said, I think having some algorithmic control over the timeline with first-class client support would be a major consideration for me to switching clients.
