The ICE 1 has a power input of about 10.000 kW. What that means to me is that there should be no issue whatsoever with me bringing and deploying my Midea(R) Comfee(tm) PortaSplit to guarantee an optimal temperature of the cabin for myself neodog

After all, 10.000 kW... 10.00**2** kW... what's the difference?

@star unfortunately for as awesome as portasplits are as a device, their security track record is apparently mid (BLE authentication flaws, duplicate device IDs, cloud token concerns, questionable authentication designs) and especially the BLE one is known but unpatched. the devices broadcast enough information for someone to derive the encryption key

@0 but yeah i guess just not connecting them to wifi should be sufficient to not have anything bad happen, no? no uplink, no problemz

@star it's sadly a BLE problem, the relevant info is in the air, they are aware, they promised a fix, it's pending. granted unless the attacker is in BLE range your room temperature (or that of the ICE) wouldn't likely suddenly change unexpectedly
