Is there a word or means of expression for when someone complains about someone/something specific on social media (e.g. soon after a controversy), and someone else uses that complaint to air their preexisting grievances towards the subject that are only tangentially relevant with the discussion involving the subject at hand?

"The food agency is recalling lettuce because there have been recent food poisoning cases involving lettuce."
Reply: "I've always been suspicious about lettuce, it's insanely overrated." (-> no matter whether the incident actually proves the opinion in a general sense or not.)
