alice/bob/mallory/eve are common and i
assume the distinction between mallory(active mitm) and eve(passive mitm) is known and consistently used
Chuck or Chad: A third participant, usually of malicious intent
that's actually quite useful as a threat to think about (insiders in a secure group chat). see: MLS breaking if hostile participants are allowed to do Commits.
Grace: A government representative. For example, Grace may try to force Alice or Bob to implement backdoors in their protocols. Grace may also deliberately weaken standards.
not really something you can do much against in a protocol, but worth discussing ig
