IT workers, unionization, somewhat related to AI ig Workers in IT have historically enjoyed a lot of leverage over their employers, there was a rather high demand for people that knew their way around computers, networking, programming etc and a growing number of companies were using technology or even becoming full on IT companies


that has changed. the market is now saturated with people working in IT, and also with companies that use technology and require IT somewhere in their continued existence


but because of their already-good position with leverage over their employers in the past, the IT sector never unionized, so now that they'd desperately need it, IT workers don't have the leverage anymore.


Just imagine for a moment what would happen if the IT workers of the world unionized. Imagine for a moment if even just 25% of the entire workforce striked. Hell would freeze over. companies would cease functioning. We could have so much leverage but we don't.

IT workers, unionization, somewhat related to AI ig @alexia IT workers going in a strike would never stop (over very rarely mean) the production
this is the case for more or less all white collar positions, striking would mostly only hurt the workers (even less time until the deadline), unless they do a long strike (measured in weeks)

well then, time for a longer strike? I thought that much was clear wlfUpsidedown


the strike doesn't matter unless it hurts the employer, I'd hope a union can help organizing aid between members as well to keep themselves afloat during the duration of the strike


sidenote: I was never explained what the whole collar thing is about and I've never heard that analogy in german, and atp I'm afraid to ask
