Also the website style is that of every vibe-coded website. And the questions about LLM use remain suspiciously unanswered, while everything else has gotten a response
@LilaHexe@0 shadcn is a very popular website framework right now. That means that it is also pretty popular by those who are using LLMs. I can understand the concern behind it, but calling the app "vibe coded" based on that is extremely dishonest.
@LilaHexe@0 You didn't say "I believe this tool might have been made with LLM assistance". You said "I am not using this vibe-coded ... software". That is an entirely different framing. You know that, I know that.
@LilaHexe@0 If I were on the receiving side of this statement, I'd be extremely sad. Calling work "vibe coded" is such a hurtful thing to say to someone. I hope that you realize the impact you are having on others by acting this way
@star@0@LilaHexe your response is kind of odd here star. Calling something vibe coded that isnt would be a little hurtful. But Lila wasn't even asking for extreme evidence just a statement that it wasn't as it was sending them some redflags. Yeah it sucks we have to explicitly say "made by humans" on things we make now. But its not an unreasonable assumption. And people do feel guilty about it so they often avoid saying when they did use AI to make their product. Is this one AI? Fuck if i know. But we as consumers have now been taught to be overly cautious due to lying actors. Was Lilas dismissal a little flippant? Sure. But not entirely unjustified either. Were all living in this hellscape.
@smolbrain@0@LilaHexe No. I don't believe that "I can say it's vibecoded until proven otherwise" is a manner in which anyone should conduct themselves, unless there is precedent or other evidence that would support that claim. It's just hurting each other until someone ends up crying. I disagree with most of what you are saying here, but I don't think there was malice behind it either.
It was unnecessarily rude. I am glad the original response is a little less crass now. Nontheless, I am pretty disappointed by this interaction.
@star@smolbrain@0@LilaHexe While "I can say it's vibecoded until proven otherwise" is not something we should be doing, that was not Lilas position here. From my understanding the friction came from "only" the question abt whether AI was used not being answered. And in the current environment project-creators that use AI are at times ashamed of saying that they did and just avoid answering. So is the reaction harsh and a bit mean? i'd say so. But expecting everybody to assume nothing was made using AI as long as there is no "this is made with AI"-sticker is also not the solution. A simple response to clear this up would have been "yes we used AI / no we don't use AI / I don't know whether AI was used, because it's not my project"

@smolbrain@star@LilaHexe Something that I can't easily make obvious without a whole disclaimer paragraph is that I don't own the project. I was hired for design, conceptual work, user research, surveying, user testing, graphics, UX and UI. questions about the code itself are misdirected at me. I know everything about the intent behind a plethora of decisions that I defined in concepts and high fidelity screens, and helped shape through conversations with the coders or that were discussed during our meetings while I was employed to work on UX/UI.
@0@star@LilaHexe you dont need to defend yourself to me. I was just making a point that skepticism about AI products has become the default. Im not even necessarily saying that its "right". But I guess im surprised it was taken so personally. Lol its not even my fight. So im going to leave this as my last response.
Fuck I use AI in my personal projects right now. Im confident enough in myself that I can admit it. I wouldn't ever put something out when I did and say I didnt and im not saying AI was used in this project at all. Maybe it wasn't. This isn't my hill and I have no interest dying on it.
My point really boils down to. Everyone should take a breath. Too fast to judge opinions met with overly reactionary defensive arguments get us no where. Lila has their own opinion, Im glad you got to have a good experience @0 and thats really all that matters.
@smolbrain@star@LilaHexe the response that sparked all this was hostility directed at me, including ridicule by association, expectations of project knowledge beyond the scope I was hired for and honestly mean-spirited bad-faith arguments that just felt really bad. I need to defend myself and I will continue to do so. And I don't appreciate the sentiment that star's reaction was out of line or that this kind of toxic attitude towards someone by proxy is justifiable
