@diondokter Why are you pushing this "AI bifurcation" narrative?

You know from the Matrix chat the reason for the fork is NOT the LLM ban. It's whitequark committing the policy straight to master without discussing or even warning me first, even though I've done like 90% of the work on smoltcp over the past 5+ years.

I asked her about this in DMs after the fact, and she told me she did this precisely because she knows I don't have the same opinion as her on AI.

After this, naturally, my motivation to keep maintaining smoltcp is completely gone.

The same thing wouId've happened if the issue was whether to ban traits on Tuesdays, or the background color of the logo. The cause of the fork is not AI, it's me getting completely disregarded.

@dirbaio @diondokter and yet you didn't ask me whether I'm fine with you using LLMs for code review. you're being rather hypocritical here.

either way, pushing AI is a major trust violation, and the project had to be defended against that. I do not regret this in the slightest.

@whitequark @dirbaio @diondokter as I see it, having no stakes in this, using llms for review is as much as an active policy choice as commiting words to main that say "no". From a naive pov, I am extremely inclined to say catherine is in the right here
