tbh, originally I was not that against wayland.

but more and more, I keep running into issues entirely caused by wayland (sometimes while still being on x11!)
more and more, I am convinced that wayland is a joke and should not have ever been taken seriously.

@star have they even fixed the issue where obs asks you to choose the screen you want to record every time it's launched?

@star in the obs config on my desktop, I have like 4-5 different windows targeted in some scenes. from a quick test, it seems that it will open a popup for every single one of those across all scenes

@hellbeast isn't the global shortcuts portal really restrictive in what it allows you to do or something?

like iirc you need to register each and every thing, so with something like obs you would end up needing to register 100s to even 1000s of shortcuts
since each scene you create adds 1 more shortcut plus 2-6 shortcuts for every source (depending on the type of source) in that scene, well, it would get out of hand quite quickly with any reasonably complex number of scenes.

I can see why they don't wish to add support for it.

@solonovamax I’m curious, can you try it with only one screen configured? I saw in other replies that you had multiple configured, but obs_data_set_string(settings, "RestoreToken", capture->restore_token); in screencast-portal.c makes it seem like they store a restore token for only one portal, so maybe the other screens override the restore token?

@hellbeast I had multiple scenes with multiple tokens. I also was testing with two monitors.

@hellbeast I did also test with only a single source, as the obs config is one copied from my desktop (thus the majority of the sources are broken, and I just re-created that one source)

@solonovamax well i mean that obs_data_set_string looks global to me, so i was thinking that another screen would override the previous restore token, so when you reopen OBS and use the restore token, it’d be wrong for that screen and require reauthentication

that’s the only theory i can think of what’s different between your and my setup, i only have one monitor and one scene
