@suricrasia i think that's probably a bit inaccurate. i mean yes, people receiving big paychecks, as software devs often do, tend to be more detached from the reality and hardships of being a member of the working class. but i do think that this isn't the full picture. the open source community has been such a regrettably "amazing" source for HEAPS of extremely high quality, labeled training data for these things. And then the fact that so much of this data is extremely "weakly" licensed in the sense that, MIT/Apache2 basically allow you to do almost whatever with the code without you having to do anything in return makes it sadly just a lot easier for the AI companies to get away with it. I think this puts software engineering in a rather unique position which, when you put it into the context of the aforementioned partial blindness to social injustice and such makes software sadly quite a huge market for this AI shit. idunno. very interesting to think about though and, for the record, i am not disagreeing with you in a "i am very upset" manner, more a "i have thought about ur post and this is my opinion on it which perhaps slightly differs from urs" type of way, fwiw
