Some projects should really modernize their communication infrastructure.

Only having IRC and mailing lists is not acceptable in 2026.

I know matrix sucks but it's still way better than IRC for Group chats.

On IRC to join a channel and ask a question you have to do the following:
- Join the channel
- Ask a question and get told by the server in another channel that your message was not sent because your username is not registered
- Register your username (you have to manually log in by typing a message to the NickServ user every time you reconnect)
- Then send the message again
- Wait and stay online until someone answers.

Lost internet connection or accidentally closed the app? Though luck, if someone answered in that time you are never going to see the message.

This is going to throw so many people off. Why is this still a thing. Please just create a matrix group. You can even bridge it so people can still use IRC if they want.

@katzenmann What should be considered more often is how accessible something is for the masses, and it should be prioritized over personal preference much more often in these cases.
