Long; Just a text about masks, respirators and my experience with them; excitement for new respirator and accommodation of my sensory needs
I am excited to try my new respirator (3M HF-802SD)!In particular, condensation/sweat buildup, a fit which always left me guessing as to whether I was wearing the mask most optimally, fogged up/moist glasses and the used mask smell have been my largest issues with traditional FFP2 quarter masks. All of these issues have mostly been solved with the 6000-series half-mask respirator!
- The glasses experience wasn't quite fixed. The 6000-series respirator doesn't attempt to accommodate glasses in any way. I always had to slide the bottom rim of my glasses under the respirator's nose piece, which was weird and also uncomfortable over longer periods of wear. The HF-800SD should solve this by, well, actually making an attempt to accomodate glasses!
- The bajonet filter attachment is not optimal. I mean, it looks cool as fuck, but even with the filters properly attached, sometimes I caught them not being properly attached. The HF-800SD should solve this by using the SecureClick attachment mechanism, which you can imagine like using a seatbelt. Click it in place, and it you know it's safe. It's also not going anywhere until you press a button and pull!
- With the 6000 series respirator, I have always been quite hard to understand, particularly in noisy environments. The HF-800SD has a speech diaphragm (hence the "SD"), which makes me sound a little robotic (can also be seen as a massive win, actually) but definitely very understandable!
Pakidge arrived, but unfortunately I have been sick. Tomorrow though I might be able to try it, if I do not forget!
