Germany as a country proceeding to, once again, pay (likely) hundreds of thousands of euros a month to an American company instead of taking even 50% of that money and giving it to an EU-based open-source project that is right there. And then that's part of our digital sovereignty plan. It's such a fucking joke.

It's incredible to have so many FLOSS dev at home that they could fund for quality software but still pay so much to american IT companies for proprietary software.

the problem with germany is that they operate on the "das haben wir schon immer so gemacht" (we've always done it like this) mentality. we've always used windows, so we can't switch now. even if it costs more and is inefficient. we can't ever know how it would be if we changed it because we've always done it like this.

@star It's kind of wild considering how cheap it is to pay open source developers to do things. I wonder if politicians just can't fathom that people would work on things for little or no financial gain. That's not very capitalism
