oh and i made a doohickey last night. i think it was unadvisable considering my physical situation but, like, i received my ferrites recently. i couldn't not.
an electrical junction box with a ferrite toroid inside wrapped with electrical cable, you can see some soldering between the cables, and to BNC terminals

@star i have no idea what power my solders would be rated for, probably not much 🙃 so it's gonna be a Rx-only setup for now
