writing the mouse player is probably hopefully a better exercise than the other two rust projects mouse has started and then abandoned, and from which it retained absolutely nothing.

not having formally learned how to code is making this a lot of trial and error and it should probably figure out how to make it less ehh handwavy

@star mouse feels like it can still wreck its impression with you and the code is kit-bashed together and held on with mouse's glue that it only understands half of the time and has tried copying and modifying from examples, so it's worrying that it will change your opinion.

for example mouse only found out way later what that mutex was actually good for, or why using anyhow for errors is a good idea 😬

30 years of pretty casual progamming in simpler high-level languages have not prepared mouse for the alienness of rust

@0 listen mouse; we all start somewhere. we all learn, and make mistakes that, once we know more, seem silly and perhaps embarrassing. but that is completely okay. it is part of the process, and it is normal. i wouldn't think less of anyone for learning. genuinely. :) meowwww
