i know matrix, xmpp or whatever isn't exactly the answer rn, even if they have gotten a lot better lately.
signal is pretty good but it's more focused on an whatsapp/imessage like experience

but like for fucks sake people are so used to their privacy and other basic rights being erased by corporations; that even if you try to rally up support towards developing a new protocol like polyproto.. most people just won't care x_x

@snugglybun I think that to replace Discord, the UX of the competing application must be not good, but great. Luckily, this is our number one goal with this protocol, and the reason which makes me very optimistic about people actually flocking to it, once it becomes ready.
