actually both ActivityPub and ATProto suck because neither are an Internet standard.

ActivityPub is a web standard but the web is a fuckass platform and i don't respect W3C.

however, the Internet is pretty cool. can we have an IETF endorsed social networking platform? and I don't mean the RFC datatracker. even though that is arguably a social site hosted by the IETF.

I have been informed that IRC is not endorsed by the IETF and has no formal standing in the IETF standards process.

So, it's really just Email/XMPP, or as I've recently taken to calling it: Email + XMPP
