which seems a lot more doable, now that i know how to take it apart, the general signal flow, what hardware is inside, that dumping the firmware is trivial (it's on a microSD card), and that it has UART and JTAG debugging headers
just need to learn the basics of reverse engineering, 3D printing, laser cutting, and get better at soldering
