re: Important chastity question @mia i don't have the answer for you, but in other EU airports when the machine is unsatisfied with me they just do a manual frisk and that's it. one time in a UK airport (MAN, maybe) they slightly brushed against my genitals which was unwelcome but hasnt happened since

if you don't want to risk them being asses about it i would indeed take it off to pass thru. that's what i do to not look like a dork uncollaring myself in front of the border police (was LCA). schiphol i passed thru a mmwave scanner 2026-04, not metal detectors. sorry i don't have more data for you

bodybytes, re: Things implants can't do (yet) @iro_miya <3

Second correction: pegleg was a Raspberry Pi, so also not a microcontroller.

bodybytes, re: Things implants can't do (yet) @iro_miya So the bodybytes is a Linux SoC. We're decent on the software side and the tooling is all set up on Cory's machine but he has to sink a lot of time into hardware bringup which is (a) very expensive (b) a total pain in the ass. So it's taking its sweet time with it, which is fine. This is literally one step before encapsulation, which is why the whole schism hurts this much.

And now for the original correction that sniped me here: bodybytes runs a whole Linux, it can host a fediverse instance. "Just" implanting a microcontroller, with a rust HAL, like ESP32 is something that is a lot simpler. This is because there are less ICs involved in that and no BGA hell. Compare the EMMC flash (128gb user-writeable) on the bodybytes www.kingston.com/en/embedded/emmc-embedded-flash vs an entire ESP32 www.mouser.com/en/ProductDetail/Espressif-Systems/ESP32-S3?qs=Rp5uXu7WBW/NWuUy%2BBihNw== (admittedly not the full-size version this one has a different featureset, but still great).

It's a very optimistic project

This was completely wrong, as I actually need to store the timezone locale and not the (variable) offset. But what an adventure.
const Prefs = t.Object({ timezone: t.Integer({ description: "Timezone offset from UTC in minutes", // In what I observe to be a crazy twist, the latest timezone in the world currently is // "UTC+14:00 Kiribati: Line Islands" // So there is actually 26 hours of timezone offset-iness. minimum: -720, maximum: 840, }), });
